Suzanne Jacobson
Sue Jacobson is thrilled to join the FWSO as a full-time member of the violin section over the coming season. As a long time substitute musician, she is delighted to be performing with her colleagues more frequently. Sue is currently Concertmaster of both the Waco and Temple Symphony Orchestras, Director of the Temple Symphony Outreach Program, and 1st violinist in the Temple Symphony String Quartet. She is also an Associate Director of the Central Texas String Academy in Waco, where she maintains a small private teaching studio. Prior to moving to Texas Sue was Assistant Professor of Violin at Eastern Kentucky University. She has served as Assistant Concertmaster of the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra in Columbus, Ohio, as well as a regular substitute with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. She was Principal Second violin with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra prior to pursuing post-graduate work in Columbus. She has enjoyed many summers as a member of the Des Moines Metro Opera, Colorado Music Festival, and Lancaster Festival Orchestras. Sue has a Bachelor of Music from the University of Michigan, and both the Master of Arts and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from The Ohio State University. She lives in Waco with her husband, Michael, Professor of Saxophone and Associate Dean of the Baylor School of Music, and daughter Abby, a high school senior. Although she spends a lot of time on I-35, she finds time to enjoy seeing movies, read, walk their 2 dogs, and be a supportive dance mom.
