​Qiong Hulsey

Violinist Qiong Hulsey has been with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra since 1997, with several hiatuses. She ventured to Tampa, Florida for two years to play in the Florida Orchestra. She also played with the Utah Symphony as Principal Second Violin for one year.

Mrs. Hulsey began playing violin at age 5; her father was her first teacher. She received her Bachelor of Music Performance from Xinhai Conservatory in China, and was concertmistress of the Xinhai Conservatory orchestra for four years. She was also a finalist in the Chinese National Competition in 1990. In addition, she was appointed to make a recording that included 38 pieces by various composers for young children by the Ministry of Education of the city of Guangzhou.

She is very passionate about teaching violin. She loves helping young kids explore their talents and become stronger, more disciplined young adults through mastery of the instrument. She lives in Arlington with her husband, Terry. She enjoys cooking, Yoga, gardening, learning Spanish, and walking her dog Zoe.

Mrs. Hulsey plays on a violin made for her in 2012 by master luthier Samuel Zygmuntowicz.
