Kevin Hall has been the principal bassoonist of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra since 1977. Mr. Hall received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the University of Illinois, where he studied with E. Sanford Berry. In addition to performing with the FWSO, he also performs, both as orchestra member and soloist, with several Texas period instrument ensembles, including Texas Camerata, La Follia Austin, Ars Lyrica Houston, the Houston Bach Society, and Mercury Orchestra (Houston.) In 2008, Mr. Hall published the book Bach Cantatas for Bassoon, the most complete collection of cantata movements for Baroque bassoon published to date. He has also studied modern bassoon with members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Baroque bassoon with Michael McCraw and Robin Howell. He is married to FWSO cellist Karen Hall.
