Janine Geisel
Janine Stockdell Geisel joined the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in 1989. A native of Joliet, Illinois, she began playing the violin in 4th grade in the Joliet Public School orchestra program. She continued her violin studies at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan from her sophomore through senior years of high school. She then attended Indiana University in Bloomington, receiving her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music Performance, studying with Josef Gingold. Additionally, she had lessons with Tadeus Wronski, Larry Shapiro, and Henryk Kowalski while at I.U.
Following her college years, Janine was first a member of the Omaha Symphony and then the Northwest Chamber Orchestra in Seattle. She also performed with the Seattle Symphony, which included seven complete Wagner Ring Cycles for the Seattle Opera. She moved to DFW when her husband John became a member of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Janine has performed with the Dallas Symphony both in town and on tours to Singapore and the Kennedy Center, as well as playing for the Dallas Opera and the Dallas Ballet Orchestra.
Janine and her husband have a grown daughter, Melissa, and four cats. Family, friends, reading, walking, gardening, and teaching private violin lessons are among the interests that round out her life.
