HeeSun Yang

HeeSun Yang was born in South Korea, beginning her viola studies at the age of ten. Following her studies at Seoul Arts High School and Yonsei University, she received her Masters degree at the Yale School of Music with Ettore Causa. She has appeared in chamber music playing with Desmond Hoebig, James Dunham, Timothy Pitts, Kathy Wrinkler and Ettore Causa. She was the first prize winner in the Great Composers International Competition in Best Elgar Performance, MusicJournal Competition and Gangnam-Weimar Competition, Hyo Compeition, and Chongsin Music Competition. She made her solo debut with Janacek
Sinfonietta in Prague, 2008. Also a dedicated orchestral musician, she has performed with the Houston Symphony and St. Louis Symphony. She received a New Horizon Fellowship at the Aspen Music Festival and School two years in a row and received a full scholarship from the Academy of Gstaad Menuhin Music Festival in Switzerland. She joined Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra as Assistant Principal Viola in 2017.
