Deborah Brooks
Deborah Brooks has performed with the Fort Worth Symphony since 1976 and served as Associate Principal Cellist for 18 years. Although Brooks resigned her position in 1999 to expand her freelance and contracting career, she performed regularly with the FWSO until rejoining as a Section Cellist in 2010. She has also been the solo cellist for Casa Manana Musicals since 1981 and is in the core pit orchestra of the Dallas Summer Musicals, as well as performs with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra as an extra. Ms. Brooks is the owner of DFW Musicians Services LLC.
Ms. Brooks received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at the University of North Texas, where she has developed a mentoring program for students and serves as Adjunct Faculty, teaching Cello Excerpts. She taught the inaugural Music Career Development Class at UNT from Fall 2009 until 2015.
Brooks' vision of mentoring students has been expanded university-wide through work on the UNT Alumni Association, chairing the Student Outreach and Marketing Committees, the UNT Career Center, and Development Board for the College of Music, and the Advisory Board of the College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences. Brooks served as Secretary of the Executive Board of the UNT Alumni Association during her six-year tenure.
Ms. Brooks is a Licensed Massage Therapist, an avid photographer, and a collector of all types of instruments.
