Alton F. Adkins
Alton Adkins is the associate principal horn of the FWSO. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Texas Tech University, where he studied with Anthony Brittin, and a master’s from Southern Methodist University, where he studied with Gregory Hustis. Alton has appeared as a soloist with the FWSO, Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, Texas Tech University Symphony Orchestra, and National Orchestra of Peru. He is active as a chamber musician and area studio musician. Alton has also performed with the orchestras of Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. He is a recipient of the 2007 American Airlines Distinguished Musician Award. He and his wife Amy, who was the president and CEO of the FWSO, stay busy with their two sons, Jacob and Benjamin.
